In this role you will provide legal and technical support to our clients and instructed counsel. You will provide close, and immediate support and advice to the Manager Legal Services (Litigation) on all active proceedings (which are predominantly immigration but may also include a wide variety of cases), including participating in the decision making in respect of those proceedings. You will be the primary interface between the litigation team, Crown Law Office, and external counsel as well as the various business units in Immigration New Zealand. You will also provide support to proceedings involving other business units.
Your workday will be varied but rewarding and will require a collaborative approach to work in partnership with the Litigation team which is responsible for the conduct and support of litigation across MBIE’s regulatory functions and higher Courts proceedings and wider MBIE. You will utilise your networking and relationship management skills to work with other business units across MBIE in the most effective and efficient way.
This is a fantastic role where you will be supported by experts and have real opportunity to build your knowledge in Immigration law and higher courts procedure. You may have experience in a similar role, or have a passion for immigration law and / or appellate litigation. You will not be required to appear as counsel in these proceedings.
