The Māori Partnership group plays a significant role in delivering on our Hōkai Rangi strategy and supporting transformation by guiding the Department's approach toward areas of greatest impact through the provision of strategic policy, robust insights and research. They also work to strengthen our relationships with Māori and other Government agencies to improve outcomes with, and for, Māori.
**Ngā kawenga | About the role**
As part of this team, the role of Regional Adviser Māori Partnerships has a clear focus on the creation, development and maintenance of critical relationships with iwi Māori and other key Māori stakeholders.
The role will also provide support and cultural advice to leadership and frontline teams across Ara Poutama. The regional advisory team are also the first point of call for staff regarding best practice in terms of making meaningful contact with iwi and Māori provider groups.
Key accountabilities of the role will include:
- Creating greater opportunities for Mana whenua and iwi Māori to have functional relationships & collaborative roles with our Prisons and Community Probation Services.
- To facilitate and promote Iwi/Mana whenua and Kaitiaki as primary providers of cultural advice and support within the Northern Region
- Maintaining, progressing and developing relationships and networks with mana whenua, Kaiwhakamana and key Māori organisations including runanga and kaumatua, iwi/hapu based groups
- To champion Hōkai Rangi across all arms of Ara Poutama
- Implement and drive our Māori Partnership Framework
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
To be successful in this role you will need:
- The demonstrated ability to engage effectively within Te Ao Māori and Te Ao Hurihuri and have the core skills and agility to facilitate effective collaboration with iwi, Hapū and Kaitiaki
- A good awareness of current justice sector trends and issues including the social and political environment of Ara Poutama
- A strong commitment to Hōkai Rangi and the vision of Ara Poutama
- Strong, proven relationship management skills and a natural flair for developing networks
- Experience working collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels
- We are users of C4C software so ideally you will have some experience using relationship management technology and the skills to use such a tool to map and analyse data to assist with the management of current and future relationships.
The role is based in Tamaki Makaurau and travel is required across the Northern Region. A full driver licence is required.
**Utu ā-tau | Salary**
The mid-point of the salary range is $89,210 and the full range (85%-120%) is $75,829 - $107,052. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
