At Ara Poutama Aotearoa the development of our people is at the heart of everything we do. The People Services Manager is a key leadership position that leads a team of senior advisers who partner with the business to provide strategic data driven insights, and advice, services and technical HR support.
Reporting directly to the Director People Practice and Capability, the People Services Manager will lead the delivery of People & Capability (P&C) advice, services and support to all leaders within the Northern Region(s) (Northland, Auckland, Manukau). You and your team will support the regions with their decision making to ensure swift and safe outcomes, you will develop strategies, interventions and plans that ultimately support a positive work environment and culture, high performance, and a culture of continual improvement. As part of the P&C leadership team you will work connectedly with others to also span change management, talent, recruitment, inclusion & diversity and health, safety & wellbeing.

Mōu | About you
As an experienced people leader, coupled with previous HR management experience, you will bring a pragmatic approach to supporting your team when juggling competing demands ranging from complex ER issues, performance management, leadership development, to coaching and so on. Demonstrating excellent communication and relationship management skills you will be comfortable working with senior leaders from within the Northern Region(s) and, as required, from across the wider Ara Poutama Whanau.
Being a strategic thinker, you will have the ability to translate strategies, initiatives and operational solutions into practical and effective implementation plans for regional delivery.
You will have a strong desire for self-development, coupled with a strong customer service focus to drive continuous improvement to deliver outcomes from within by mentoring, developing and coaching the team.
Ensuring we are able to operate effectively within Te Ao Māori and Te Ao Hurihuri contexts is central to our success. As a result, you will ideally possess either an existing capability, or willingness to learn more Te Reo, Tikanga, and have a solid understanding of the treaty as it relates to the criminal justice system.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid point of the salary range is $170,033 and the full range (85%-120%) is $144,529 - $204,040. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
