Auckland City, New Zealand Contact Energy Full time

Company Description
**Te Tākinatanga | Our Story**

At Te Mata Hiko (Contact Energy), we believe home is the most important place in the world. It's all part of our vision to leave Aotearoa better than we found it. We’re a power and broadband company, but we’re so much more than that. We are transforming the ways we mahi, and how Aotearoa is powered, leading the charge on renewable energy and digitising customer journeys in ways not yet seen here. A team of 1000+ from all walks of life who love what we do, look out for each other, and learn from one another every day, we’re stoked to be guided by our tikanga: _we touch lives to make life better._

We're on the path to digitise our customer business end-to-end, a transformation that requires us to strengthen our digital, customer and data capabilities, adopt new ways of working, and shape our culture for greater agility, innovation and customer obsession. Our Digital team is key to this mahi, and in this newly created role as Technical Lead you'll get to work at the forefront of some of our most exciting digital innovations.

**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role***

Part of a big, social team who report to our Head of Digital Delivery, the Technical Lead is “the” person who knows how everything hangs together. Shared across squads, you'll mentor the development team, design and size solutions for projects, set up and maintain the Digital DevOps pipeline, create best practice, and roll your sleeves up to write clean, well-factored code that is easy to read and test. By offering guidance, solutions, operational support, and recommending new technologies to accelerate our Digital transformation, you'll be a key contributor to the Architectural Roadmap for Contact.

You’ll find the best of both worlds here, working in a Digital team which is still relatively compact; very much like working for a software house, where everyone knows each other and pitches in to help out when need be, but backed by a large, stable organisation that’s not going anywhere. We work with a pretty up-to-date stack and are fully flexible, meaning you can work how, where, and when works best for you. Vertically, we work in squads; horizontally, we have a practice model, and you’ll be across a couple (similar to a guild or chapter). We’re big on celebrating success, with squads each having their own social celebrations - being on a few means you’ll have lots of social opportunities here, too

**Qualifications**:
**Ko wai koe | About you**

We’re an AWS house, so you need to be an AWS expert. You could be a senior developer with strong Cloud experience who’s dabbled in solution/technical design, or you might be somebody with a solution design background who just prefers to spend a good chunk of your life still on the tools. We’re open to either, so long as you have AWS Cloud expertise (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS) and CI/CD experience including GitLab and GitHub.

With the sheer pace things move at here, you’ll need to be an innate problem-solver with strong business acumen who’s able to handle multiple important tasks at once, including the unexpected (as you’ll be involved with incidents). Your communication skills will need to be on point, with the ability to convey complex information simply, translate technical speak for business users, coach other developers to solve complex problems, and from time to time, present to leadership.

You don’t strictly _need _the following, but we'd be stoked if you have experience in:

- eCommerce and Digital Customer Service Channels
- Front-end JS frameworks (preferably React JS)
- Mobile development (iOS/Android/React Native)
- NoSQL and Relational databases
- Typescript
- Developing and integrating with third party APIs
- C#
- Sitecore
- Working in a scrum environment.

Additional Information

There are a bunch of perks to being a permanent Contact kaimahi (employee). Along with great leadership, teammates, development, and growth and progression opportunities, you’ll enjoy flexible working (this role can be based anywhere in NZ), free health insurance cover, better-than-your-average leave, access to Contact Shares, a ‘Good to be Home’ annual payment toward your home set up & wellbeing, a trail-blazing parental leave policy, discounts on Contact Energy products_, _and more.
