Auckland's aspirational goal is to achieve zero waste by 2040, turning its waste into resources. We strive to be at the forefront of the waste management practice across Australasia and we are constantly looking for innovative ways to improve services and reduce waste going to landfill. To help us on this journey, we are looking for a Waste Advisor - Contracts & Compliance to join our team and contribute towards Auckland Council's Waste Management and Minimisation Plan

Reporting to the Waste Contracts & Compliance Team Leader, as a Waste Advisor, you will manage relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholder customers and contract partners. You will ensure effective service delivery of all existing and new waste management contracts related to refuse, recycling, inorganics, community recycling centres, organics, landfill disposal and streetscapes.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

- Manage monitor and track performance of assigned contractors as per agreed contract requirements
- Contractor health and safety audits and reporting
- Manage and monitor assigned budgets and financial reporting
- Manage collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders

**He kōrero mōu: About you**
You are a person who is passionate about waste minimisation and delivering excellent Customer service. You will have strong operational experience in a waste management environment or similar operational environment. In these roles, you would have managed contracts, solved interesting problems and developed collaborative relationships with contractors. It would be advantageous if you have a sound technical understanding and working knowledge of the Waste Minimisation Act 2008, Solid Waste bylaws and other relevant legislation as well as a tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering or business administration.

As this role will require you to travel, you will need a valid and clean full or restricted NZ driver's license.

**Please note**: This role is safety-sensitive and requires pre-employment drug testing.
