**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and Hauora Maori Service colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Suicide Postvention Manager is part of the Regional Mentally Well team in the Northern Region and is responsible for managing and facilitating suicide postvention initiatives and activities across Auckland and Waitemata in support of the Waitematā and Auckland Suicide Prevention and Postvention Action Plan. They will be guided and aligned to Every Life Matters - He tapu to Oranga o ai Tangata Suicide Prevention Strategy 2019 - 2029 and subsequent Suicide National and Regional Suicide prevention and postvention planning.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā weako | Skills and experience**
- Certificate in community support work level 4 or equivalent
- Experience in community and/or cross sector and multi-agency work
- Experience in supporting people in grief, trauma
- Able to take care of own physical and mental wellbeing, and have the stamina needed to go the distance.
- Demonstrate a strong drive to deliver and take personal responsibility.
- Demonstrate self-awareness of your impact on people and invests in your own leadership practice to continuously grow and improve.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of personal, professional and institutional behaviour through commitment, loyalty and integrity.
- Ability to continue to practice effectively when managing suicide grief and trauma, has a high-level self-awareness, manages own wellbeing and engages effectively in supervision
- Skills in conflict resolution, problem solving and diversity
- Highly skilled and experienced in maintaining confidentiality and privacy
- Ability to connect and navigate through the intricacies of whānau; exercised through the principals of whanaungatanga
