This is a fixed term full time contract for a consultant general physician, internist, geriatrician or neurologist with experience in management of acute stroke and transient ischemic attacks in a District General Hospital in New Zealand which provides secondary medical care in one of the regions with the highest incidence of stroke and cerebral vascular accidents in the country.

**Role Responsibilities**
- you will manage patients presenting with acute stroke and TIA until ready for transfer to rehabilitation.
- you will provide thrombolysis assessment in working hours including assessment for mechanical thrombectomy where appropriate.
- You will provide supervision to junior doctors as well as participate in the afterhours on call rota including weekend acute stroke specialist ward rounds.

**Role Requirements**
- A degree in medicine - MBBS, MBChB, MD
- Fellowship of the Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent specialist qualification
- Medical Council of New Zealand vocational registration or eligibility for this in the scope of general medicine OR locum tenens - special purpose
- Subspecialist training in stroke medicine, neurology or geriatrics

**Remuneration and Benefits**
- Salary details: NZD $19000 0- 270000 pa DOE
