As an
- **Arborist** with Northpower, your main responsibility is to ensure that powerline networks are maintained in the best possible condition. This involves minimizing and eliminating interference caused by trees, climbing and trimming trees, and even dismantling them when necessary. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for selecting and planting suitable trees for the power line environment. To perform these job duties, you’ll operate chainsaws, bush chippers, and cherry pickers. This role will be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that everything operates smoothly and will be based at our Hamilton Depot.

**What’s in it for you?**
For this role, our Transmission team is seeking an experienced
- **Vegetation Cutter** with strong leadership skills to act as a role model and mentor for their team.
- Key responsibilities for the Arborist position include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain Transmission network with tree and vegetation management
- Operate chainsaws and brush chippers
- Select and plant suitable trees for power line environment
- Negotiate with Tree Suppliers and stakeholders
- Expert in climbing trees and using elevated work platform
- Comply with safety and environmental regulations
**What we’re looking for?**
To be considered for this role, you should possess Arboriculture qualifications and prior experience as an Arborist. While experience with high voltage networks is preferred, it is not mandatory.
- The following qualifications and some additional skills would be beneficial:
- Level 4 or above Arborist qualification with tool experience
- Previous experience near high voltage networks advantageous
- Certificate in Electrical Supply (Vegetation Control) advantageous
- Ability to climb trees and work at heights comfortably
- Experience in felling, pruning, rigging, and dismantling trees
- Full clean NZ class 1 driver's license (Class 2 desirable)
- Ideal to have Class 2 Truck license
- Strong physical ability and dedication to safety
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a team player
