**The role**
As a **Trainee Arborist**, you will help maintain network reliability by managing vegetation around network assets. Reporting to the Vegetation Supervisor, you will work from our Hamilton depot, serving the Waikato region.
- The key responsibility for this position includes, but are not limited to:_
- Understand the basics of vegetation management
- Operate chainsaw, brush chipper, and stump grinder
- Select and plant trees suitable for power lines
- Negotiate with tree suppliers.

To succeed in this role, you might have chainsaw and cutting skills, which would be beneficial. Experience with high voltage networks is an advantage but not essential. Familiarity with high voltage networks is preferred, though not mandatory. _To be successful in this role, you will also have some of the following skills:_
- Capability to climb trees and be comfortable working at heights
- Arboriculture qualifications and Certificate in Electrical Supply (Vegetation Control)
- Safety-focused with Team player attitude
- A full clean NZ class 1 driver’s licence (Class 2 desirable)
- Excellent communication skills with a willingness to be part of a team.
