Permanent Social Worker vacancy in the Kotahi Te Whakaaro multi agency team
- Position will be based across our Tāmaki Makaurau sites but predominantly in South Auckland
- We're offering a competitive salary starting from, $76,284 to $94,715, depending on experience
Mō te tūnga | About the role
Exciting opportunity to be a part of an innovative way of working. We've got a permanent role up for grabs for an experienced Social Worker with previous leadership experience, or the drive to take on a development opportunity Tāmaki Makaurau.
Kotahi Te Whakaaro is a South Auckland multi agency team which fast-tracks intervention for tamariki aged 14 and under who are engaging in serious and escalating behaviour - Kotahi Te Whakaaro complete assessments focusing on the underlying issues, and immediate needs of the whole of whānau to support whānau resilience and prevent escalation into all through the system.
The plans usually include re-engagement with education, whānau and community, it can include facilitating stable housing, assessing support needs for all members of the household and often includes innovative ideas which go the extra mile.
The data shows that many of the tamariki and rangatahi who have engaged in offending behaviours are experiencing complex difficulties in their lives, including violence in the home and disengagement from education. Changing the environment, they are living in, disrupts the anti-social behaviours.
The Kotahi te Whakaaro approach brings together government and non-government organisations daily to review cases of rangatahi involved with Police in the preceding 24hours.
Agencies meet same day to identify those with the best relationship with the rangatahi and their whānau. A joint visit is made to understand needs and plan an appropriate response. Other agencies, such as health, education or social services, are linked in to provide a 'wrap around' service for the rangatahi and the whānau with supports as required.
In South Auckland, of the young people referred after committing a ram-raid or other vehicle offence, just 19% have reoffended.
The cross-agency team are invested, passionate and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of whānau, Rangatahi and Tamariki as well as the community. They have recently won two awards for their outstanding mahi
