**About the role**
You will be responsible for one or more of Sanford’s “Deep-water” fishing vessels. These vessels process the fish on-board to a frozen export ready state and spend many weeks at-sea at a time. The scope of your role will be broad. No two days will be the same and you’ll be kept on your toes as you juggle a large number of activities and responsibilities.

Your role will include:

- Advances a safe work place culture and the ongoing development of the Health, Safety & Wellbeing journey
- Active oversight of the provisioning, crewing and maintenance of the vessel/s
- Providing leadership to the officers and crew to advance Sanford’s engagement and cultural development
- Coordinating catch plans, quota usage and reporting
- Ensuring the vessel achieves the required product quality outcomes, and advances value adding product initiatives
- Compliance to maritime and fisheries related regulations / acts (amongst others) at all times
- Financial responsibility for the vessels’ entire operation and budget
- Effective use of Sanford and contractor resources to enable an efficient vessel operation

This role requires the ability to manage projects, think outside the box and come up with collaborative solutions under time pressure.

**Skills and Attributes**

Sanford is not looking for a specific background for this role. You could come from the marine / fishing or engineering industries, procurement or factory management - but what you_ _**_will_** **have is a broad range of complementary skills and the right attitude. As you will be liaising extensively with both internal and external stakeholders you will need good management, organisting, planning and communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships. You will be capable of dealing with pressure and reacting to unforeseen events. Good computer skills are essential (especially Excel, experience with D365 is desirable) and the flexibility to work across a number of platforms is necessary. You are commercially astute, able to coordinate with vendors and contractors, manage performance, and prepare reports for senior management.

You will be open to learning new skills as no two days are the same You will also be a self starter who enjoys working collaboratively within a team.
