Wellington City, New Zealand Transpower Full time

Oversee project schedules and resourcing for NZ's national grid
- Improve project performance through scheduling & resource allocation
- Build team wide Project Online capability

Optimise a $400M per annum project portfolio by building project managers' capability to fully utilise scheduling and resourcing software

Transpower is the commercially focused and regulated State-Owned Enterprise that owns and operates the National Grid. At the very heart of the energy sector, we transport electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution companies who deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.

To play an active role in decarbonising the economy and reducing emissions though accelerated electrification, we continue to improve, accelerate, and scale as we look towards rapidly growing demand for clean energy, new technology, more complex power flows, and changing customer and consumer expectations.

**About the team**

The Performance and Controls Service Group provides support services to the project and programme management community within Grid Delivery. There are five distinct teams; Support, Operations, Performance, Project Management Office (PMO), and Change which enable successful delivery.

The Grid Delivery PMO is responsible for ensuring governance, frameworks, and standards are in place and followed for project delivery. The PMO will drive to ensure each project is a success while supporting the continuous improvement processes and delivery of insights on performance for Grid Delivery projects.

**About the opportunity**

The is a great opportunity for someone to combine their strong core skills related to data usage and reporting, systems, business analysis, as well as relationships and communications into a key influencing and performance improvement role.

As a member of a small collaborative team with a broad remit, you will have overall responsibility for a discrete area of PMO operations and be a significant contributor to setting team direction and activity.

Reporting to and working alongside our Project Management Office Manager, you'll bring excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and establish priorities.

Self-motivated and self-managing, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, you'll improve project delivery performance by using the information resulting from scheduling and resourcing data to identify and inform management, governance, stakeholder, and contributing resource manager groups of:

- current, upcoming, and future workload and resource requirements
- resource team performance, bottlenecks, and emerging areas of concern
- scheduling, resourcing, and general Project Online support and training

Leading regular stakeholder forums, you will own and maintain Project Online and support the driving of delivery and performance. With a multi-year well-defined pipeline of projects, over the coming 12-18 months you will:

- oversee the completion and refinement of schedule and resource reporting
- establish a process for advanced set-up of pipeline projects (prior to investigation phase)
- extend schedule-based resourcing to all active and pipeline projects
- drive and improve on-time project performance
- embed the use of resources within project schedules by PM's and our Project Support team
- prepare for the implementation of resources into delivery project schedules
- improve the consistent, timely and accurate use of Project Online schedules by various user groups

Gaining exposure to all elements of project management within Grid Delivery and building functional knowledge across other areas of Transpower, in time you will have the potential to progress into a variety of business roles, including project management, performance improvement, and team leadership related roles.

This is a role with tangible impact on driving and improving performance of Grid Delivery project work in support of Te Mauri Hiko (Energy Futures strategy) and the delivery of NZ's electrification future.

**What will you bring?**
- To be considered, you'll hold a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Finance, Commercial, Business Management or Engineering), have sound commercial acumen with financial literacy and the ability to interpret and understand business drivers and trends, and outstanding ability to build relationships at all levels and influence better performance in project scheduling and resourcing.

**Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate**:
