The Pae Ora legislation gives us the mandate and opportunity to create a system of commissioning that has the needs of whānau and communities at its heart. In this new model, we are not ‘commissioners' holding the power. We are Te Tiriti o Waitangi partners and allies, we are listeners of diverse voices, we are holders of the space for communities and whānau to lead. We are a team of teams who live within and reflect the communities we serve.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Principal Advisor, Mentally Well sits within a team which oversees the development and management of all Board, Committee and Ministerial reports and briefings including Official Information Act requests (OIAs) and Parliamentary Questions (PQs).

The Principal Advisor is responsible for providing high quality information and advice in support of the mentally well team's work programmes in commissioning. The Principal Advisor acts as the main conduit between Commissioning and key personnel in the Office of the Chief Executive, liaising directly on Ministerial briefings and communications.

To succeed in this role you will need significant senior experience in governance and Ministerial servicing roles including:

- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences.
- Experience in the development and presentation of well-articulated, unambiguous, and robust advice, papers, and reports.
- A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making.
- Previous experience working in government and a thorough understanding of the machinery of Government.
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships internally and externally, across various groups, including at a senior level.
