Mō te tūnga | About the role The Senior Commercial Advisor contributes to the funding and delivery of new public housing places. This role focusses on undertaking financial analysis and providing recommendations regarding the financial viability of public housing projects proposed by Community Housing Providers. Key outcomes
- Support Business Development Managers and the wider Housing Supply team in delivering new build public housing supply across Aotearoa
- Foster and develop relationships with key stakeholders including Community Housing Providers, financiers, private sector developers and other related parties

**Key activities and tasks**: Project-based work
- Identify commercial and financial risks related to housing projects and recommend actions to mitigate risks
- Work closely with Business Development Managers to provide quality financial support to Community Housing Providers to develop feasible funding proposals
- Involvement in ad-hoc projects from across the organisation where your financial skills may be required to inform outputs or policy settings. Continuous improvement programme
- Contribute to or lead projects that improve workplace processes for the team
- Provide information to support reporting on delivery pipelines of public housing
- Maintain spreadsheets to capture and illustrate benchmarks, results and other key outputs
- Maintain awareness of external factors that impact on the delivery of new public housing supply and how these risks may be managed. Wider engagement and relationship management
- Support Business Development Managers in maintaining effective relationships with Community Housing Providers and other stakeholders
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other Crown agencies (as relevant)
- Work effectively with other teams across the organisation and contribute towards HUD's strategic and operational policy making. The salary range for this role is $97,771 - $119,498. Mōu | About you This is a unique opportunity for someone with a background in finance, banking, accounting, or property development, to join our Housing Supply team. What you'll bring to the role:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
- An understanding of property or project finance
- Experience of financial analysis in the property/housing or infrastructure sectors, including ability to interpret data to gain insights and make recommendations regarding financial viability of projects
- Strong commercial acumen in property/housing development including knowledge of key trends and understanding of different delivery models (e.g., on-balance sheet, leases, shared equity/joint-ventures etc.)
- Organisational skills to manage multiple projects/deliverables at the same time
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey complex messages in a simple and succinct manner
- A proven track record of building and maintaining effective working relationships internally and with external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of Excel (min. at an intermediate level, familiarity with cashflow/financial models an advantage)
- Comfortable working within a public sector environment.
