**The Opportunity**

This strategic role will have a focus on providing nursing leadership, governance, guidance and professional clinical advice across Tai Tokerau that will strengthen the nursing contribution to improving health outcomes. As the Director of Nursing for Primary Care Tai Tokerau you will be developing and managing strategic relationships both on a regional and national level with key partners and stakeholders. This role will champion collaboration, evolution of integrated models of care and support professional nursing education and practice excellence.

This role is based in Whangarei however will be expected to travel across Tai Tokerau and nationally as required and is key to providing professional direction and leadership in the development and implementation of a sustainable primary care workforce.

**About Mahitahi Hauora**

Mahitahi Hauora is a primary health entity. Underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, our Kaupapa includes ensuring whānau and communities have access to the services they determine they need, are able to achieve self-determined wellbeing, and to live a long and healthy life. We work collaboratively with community, primary healthcare providers and key partners to support general practices, Māori health providers and social sector agencies, to achieve better health outcomes for our Tai Tokerau population.

**The Position**

This role requires a Senior Nurse who has significant senior Nursing experience and expertise in developing and leading innovative improvements of health related services. Ideally you will have strong advocacy and relational experience, be an influential leader across change and have a passion for advancing primary health nursing imperatives and strategies. You will need to have a strong understanding of primary health care, its current challenges and be passionate about improving access to services and health outcomes for Maori.

**To be considered for this role you must**:

- Be currently registered with the Nursing Council of NZ
- Have a Masters' degree in Nursing/Health
- Have either a qualification or demonstrable experience across both change methodology and project management
- Have a minimum of 10+ years' experience across Nursing (which includes primary/community experience) with significant demonstrable leadership
- Be able to demonstrate experience in working at a strategic level
