Mō te Tūranga - About the role

The Public Prosecutions Unit (PPU) was formed to support the increasing oversight of public prosecutions and the need to better manage the costs associated with Crown Prosecutions. As part of this work, the PPU administers the Crown Solicitor network including the funding of Crown Prosecutions, the conducting of performance reviews and the administration of the Crown Prosecutor classification system. In addition, the PPU also works closely with prosecuting agencies by undertaking reviews of their prosecution functions as well as supporting work undertaken by the Public Prosecutions Advisory board.
The purpose of the Senior Advisor role is to support the ongoing development of the Quality Assurance Framework that supports the Solicitor‑General's general oversight of public prosecutions which includes the following:
- Support annual in‐depth and survey-based reviews
- Designing, implementing, and analysing annual questionnaires
- Drafting OIA responses
- Developing reports, documents and policies that support the Unit's focus on the quality assurance of public prosecutions

Remuneration and benefits
The starting salary range for this role is $107,552 to $133,329 - with further room to progress. The appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
In addition, you will also receive additional benefits such as an annual wellness payment, funding for professional memberships and study, three additional leave days (Crown Law days) and opportunities for development and growth across Crown Law.
To be considered for a position at Crown Law you must have a legal right to live and work in New Zealand and are required to complete a Ministry of Justice Criminal Records check.
