**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are seeking a** Power BI Specialist** to join our central finance team for an initial **6 to 12-month Fixed Term contract**. You will be responsible for designing and developing interactive finance reports, building datasets, and implementing governance practices to ensure the effective use of Power BI across the team and for selected service divisions.

You will need to have a strong understanding of data visualization, data modeling, and data analysis techniques.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Design and develop visually appealing and interactive Power BI reports and dashboards that effectively communicate data insights and trends.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand their reporting requirements, translating them into actionable solutions using Power BI.
- Build and maintain robust and scalable Power BI datasets that consolidate and transform data from multiple sources, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- Ensure that Power BI reports and datasets adhere to University Data Governance practices and standards to comply with data security, privacy, and other policies.
- Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Create and maintain documentation, including data dictionaries, user guides, videos and best practices, to support the adoption and use of Power BI across the organisation. Ensure ‘fit for purpose’ use of Power BI versus other University reporting tools.
- Promote and facilitate the development of basic PowerBI skills and competencies to the broader finance team.

You will be joining OneFinance, which is our finance business partnering division responsible for the delivery of customer-centric financial management, partnering support and advice across the university. You will have a team of 5 around you, but you will be part of our larger central team of about 200.

We have flexibility when it comes to working from home, and when you start and finish. We are also happy to consider applicants who are interested in working remotely within New Zealand.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

We are on the lookout for strong analytical and problem-solving skills, so you should be able to showcase your ability to analyse complex datasets and present actionable insights. Your technical skills will need to be backed up by excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff at various levels of seniority.

**E rapua ana mātou | We are seeking**
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- Certifications in Power BI or related Microsoft technologies.
- Previous experience developing Financial Dashboards.
- Proficient in writing DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) queries and formulas to create calculated columns, measures, and KPIs.
- Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with data integration and ETL processes, including working with APIs, web services, and data connectors.
