Position Description | Te Ara Tiaki Pakeke Occupational Therapist

Te Ara Tiaki Pakeke is an inter-disciplinary health service which works in collaboration with Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) and Te Aka Whai Ora (Maori Authority) colleagues and partner organisations to enable older people to receive healthcare centred around their needs. The service is committed to maintaining the best possible health and greatest level of independence for older people, with avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions a key objective.

We have an opportunity for a suitably qualified applicant to join our evolving service. To be successful in this role you will have a commitment to listening to the voice of older people and their whanau, engaging in assessment that identifies their needs, and builds responsive intervention plans. Excellent relationship and networking skills are desirable to create integrated and collaborative client centred health plans.

You will work independently, as well as co-working and partnering with colleagues to facilitate coordination of health services and supports through excellent communication and organising skills.

Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti has a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and to recognising Te Ao Maori perspectives and practices. A desire to address inequity for Maori, with strong cultural competencies would be advantageous.

Are you a registered Occupational Therapist with at least three years’ experience and a current annual practicing certificate?
