We are looking for an experienced **Heavy** **Automotive Diesel Mechanic** to join our **Mobile Equipment Workshop** at New Zealand’s Aluminium Smelter.

The Mobile Equipment Workshop (Garage) is primarily accountable for providing vehicle maintenance and breakdown services of over 200 items of heavy industrial mobile equipment to a site that operates 24/7. The Garage currently has a team of 12 people including a Crew Leader, Planner, Equipment Reliability Officer, Tradespeople and Apprentices.

Based at **Tiwai** in Invercargill, this is a great opportunity for a qualified Mechanical Tradesperson to join a collaborative team working **7am-5pm with a shift rotation of 8 days on / 6 days off.**

**Key Accountabilities include**:

- Performs maintenance tasks.
- Identifies defects and provide feedback on asset performance and health via the Rio Tinto Business
- Solution (RTBS), raising notifications and competing work orders.
- Supports the defect elimination process and contributes to the work management analysis and asset tactics reviews.
- Ensures work management activities are undertaken in line with work order/job instructions.
- Undertakes post maintenance equipment commissioning and clean-up.

**What you’ll bring**

We are seeking a person with excellent communication skills and a relevant mechanical trade qualification, preferably as a qualified Heavy Automotive Diesel Mechanic or equivalent. This person must also have relevant current experience working on heavy automotive vehicles, loaders and forklifts.

Proven experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems is also preferable. Holding a current Class 1 Drivers Licence is also required (Class 2, desirable).
