You could be based in Auckland or Wellington, and you will support a variety of Capital projects, district plan reviews, there are also opportunities to be involved in hearings and environment court mediation. **Te whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity**

KiwiRail needs a Senior Resource Management Act Advisor. Working as part of our RMA team the main focus of the role is to support Kiwirail’s Capital Works Programs.

Some key accountabilities will include:

- Protecting and supporting KiwiRail assets, operations and projects - Ensure operational railway land is designated for railway purposes and holds appropriate underlying zoning.
- Integrated National, Regional and District Planning - Provide input into legislative changes at a national, regional and district level.
- Policy and Process development - Assist in the development and maintenance of internal and external RMA related policy to support the greater team.
- Liaison and Communication - Proactively develop and maintain relationships with various stakeholders.
- Zero Harm - Compliance with all rail safety system standards, procedures and statutory requirements within your area of responsibility.

The role is challenging and rewarding. You’ll need to be self-motivated and someone who can handle multiple deadlines. You also need to be able to see the big picture, and to provide policy and strategic advice to internal clients.

We're looking for someone with an NZPI recognised planning qualification and at least 6 years New Zealand based planning experience within the RMA framework, preferably with a focus on capital works and infrastructure.
