**White coats are not worn in our lab** - instead you will be provided with a high viz vest and you will be getting in amongst the soil and aggregate at our quarry

In joining our team, you will be assessing the physical properties of civil engineering materials and get a great insight into the process of building roads, bridges and other structures which are key to our country’s daily movements.

As well as gaining a strong understanding of materials used in the construction industry and how they react to different conditions,
**other key responsibilities** you will undertake in this role are:

- Assessing the physical properties of civil engineering materials this includes soil, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt
- Conducting a variety of tests and repots on particle size, strength, and density
- Instruct on daily workload allocation, interpreting, and communicating results back to the customer
- Provide technical support to our team of technicians
- Problem-solving issues as they arise both internally and externally

**To be successful in this role you will need to consider**:

- Previous civil laboratory experience - preferably minimum of five years
- Already have or able to achieve IANZ signatory status straight away
- Willing to work a night shift when required
- Able to undertake some repetitive heavy lifting - up to 25kgs
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence
- Right to work in New Zealand
- Health and safety conscious
- Asphalt testing experience would be advantageous
