**About the Role**

This is a crucial role in our community and as such you will operate with the utmost integrity. You will be responsible for responding to and enforcing compliance with Whanganui District Council Bylaws along with providing information and advice to visitors and the wider community through informal visitation and monitoring of freedom camp sites throughout Whanganui.

You will also be responsible for providing support and guidance to homeless persons in the Whanganui District which will involve connecting people to appropriate external support services and referrals.

**Other key requirements of this role are**:

- Data collection and recording component role to both the compliance and homelessness sides of this role.
- Managing conflicting demands between stakeholders and resolving conflicts.
- Developing and maintaining compliance documentation

**Skills & Experience**

Your background will include proven experience in mediation and conflict resolution along with effective written and oral communication skills. Knowledge and understanding of compliance activities in a Local Government environment is essential in this role.

- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- The ability to form and maintain good working relationships with key users
- Ability to prioritise workloads
- Excellent interpersonal skills

Any appointment to this role will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory police check.
