**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

In this role you will be supporting our tāngata in our respite whare. This is a really busy whare that has two residential tāngata and three respite beds. You will be part of a team who do amazing work with our tāngata that have complex needs; it is both challenging and rewarding and you will make such a tangible difference to the lives of the people you support. Our tāngata lead busy, active lives which may include attending day services classes, formal functions, gym classes, swimming and visiting whanau.

**Ko wai koe | About You**

You may not have previous experience but you enjoy supporting those around you in your own life, you are the ‘go to' support person and you are naturally drawn to helping others.

You may have significant life experience which includes caring for a loved one; you may be tired of manual labour and looking for something more fulfilling; you may be retired or now able to work around other whanau commitments. You may even be studying and just starting out in your career.

Your skills will include:

- Working with diversity;
- A wide range of communications skills;
- The ability to set goals and work towards them;
- A good level of physical fitness and mobility;
- Being comfortable in assisting with personal cares;
- The ability to be inventive in the kitchen, you enjoy cooking
- Prior experience with manual hoist/support of high wheel chair users (advantageous)

The roster includes working days, evenings, sleepovers and weekends.
