**The Role**

You will be working in Southland schools that are part of an initiative with the Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Education. Your clients will be students with health conditions and disabilities in the last year or two at school. Together with the student you will plan and support their next steps post-secondary school - these include supports for employment, vocational training, or tertiary options.

This is a fixed term role covering paternity leave, there is a possibility of ongoing work beyond the fixed term. You may also be assisting adult jobseekers in this role.

**The location**

This role is based in our Invercargill office with travel throughout the Southland region.

**Day to day responsibilities**
- Focussing on work first employment pathways and planning.
- Liasing with the student’s whanau, the school and community connections. Getting to know your students, understanding their stories, and fostering trust so that you can effectively help them gain mahi aligned with their goals, experience, and strengths.
- Creating meaningful connections with local employers and businesses, government & industry/sector partners, disability support and other providers to seize golden work opportunities for students.
- Connecting to work experience and paid work whilst at school if that is an option.
- Helping students upskill by identifying training needs for their chosen industry/sector liaising with the school, local industry, or training providers.

**Your background**
- Current full NZ driver’s license.
- Our Employment Consultants are selected from a wide range of careers - including recruitment, social services, sales, business development, government, and industry.
- Life skills, enthusiasm to help people, grit & resilience, and the ability to bring the best out of people.
- You will need to be self-driven, even entrepreneurial in your approach.
- A strong desire to assist youth with their career and next steps.
