They require enthusiastic Water Safety Ambassadors to promote water competence and drowning prevention awareness in the community and support their Aquatic Educators.

**Job Description**:
This role is pivotal for the water safety space. DPA was formed with a vision of Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland being free from drowning, which they aim to achieve through improving water competency through education. The position will involve regular consultation with the programme coordinators, Aquatic Educators and the Senior Leadership Team (in collaboration with other DPA team members).

**Qualifications**:
The ideal person for this role is someone who has a passion for water safety and education. The key accountabilities for this role are focused on:

- Attending and actively participating in event activities and engaging with event visitors;
- Undertaking surveys to gain measurable results from the events and providing feedback, and obtaining contact details in order to share further information with people;
- Acting with cultural awareness and competence at all times - ensuring that relationships are built and maintained across different cultures.

Are you the person that we are looking for? In addition to undertaking the above, you will have a background in the aquatic environment, be enthusiastic and outgoing while remaining professional and have strong interpersonal and communication skills. You enjoy working with people of all ages, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds and enjoy working as a team. You will be punctual, reliable and adaptable. You must be able to swim 200m and tread water or float for 5 minutes. You will also be double vaccinated for COVID-19.

Ideally, you will have:

- Workplace First Aid
- A full NZ Drivers’ License
- A current Pool Lifeguard Certificate, Surf Life Saving Qualification or experience being a Swim School Instructor.

Additional Information
We are looking for someone to join the team with values that match the culture of DPA. You will be a self-directed person of initiative who is a great communicator, who enjoys working as part of a truly dedicated team. You will be an active listener and have the ability to understand and share the feelings of all stakeholders.

In return, you will be offered a rewarding role as part of a supportive team with hands-on leadership and a real opportunity to grow and develop your skills and career.
