**Our Opportunity**:
Are you passionate about renewable energy and eager to take the lead on engineering efforts for a programme of large renewable projects? We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to drive technical elements of our Generation Development programme, during an exciting time as we have a robust and diverse pipeline of renewable options across the country while also hunting new opportunities.

In this role you'll be responsible for providing engineering leadership and management across Mercury's generation development programme, from feasibility phase engineering to commissioning. You'll be supported by highly skilled, internal engineering specialists and external engineering consultancy partners. This role has approximately 2-3 direct reports and together you'll be part of a wider team of approximately 15. This role reports to the General Manager Generation Development, who supports continued growth and development and has a management style of empowerment and transparency.

Mercury offers great work / life balance with flexible working hours and location including the ability to spend some time working from home. The role has the option to be based out of our Hamilton, Tauranga or Auckland offices with travel as required to our development and construction sites.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Manage a team of engineers and technical professionals, providing mentorship and guidance and fostering their growth
- Drive the engineering aspects of our onshore wind, solar and BESS renewable energy projects, ensuring they meet industry and Mercury technical, safety and environmental standards
- Develop and implement project quality plans in consultation with Project Managers
- Contribute per your discipline specific engineering experience e.g. civil, renewables, electrical

**We are looking for**:

- Substantial experience in scoping, designing, and constructing renewable energy projects
- Experience in the management and delivery of engineering work including preparation of technical briefs, management of external design, preparation of contract technical specifications, and construction quality assurance.
- Experience managing and coordinating multi-discipline engineering teams, including mentoring engineering staff
- Bachelors degree in Engineering - mechanical, electrical or civil preferred
- Experience in similar role such as Technical Manager, Engineering Manager on large-scale infrastructure projects (>$100m)
