The Business and Consumer branch work to create thriving businesses and confident consumers in Aotearoa by developing trusted relationships, pathways, guidance, products and services. The branch is located within the Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery group.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team as a Senior Business Advisor. We are looking for someone to bring their business understanding, risk management experience and perspective to work across Business & Consumer, leading branch accountability processes and reporting. This role reports to the Business Services Manager, Business and Consumer.
**In this role you will undertake**:
- Planning, performance and reporting, risk management, business continuity planning, continuous improvement and assurance processes
- Provide analytical support for the branch leadership team
- Deliver quality advice and support to teams within the branch to contribute to the continuous improvement of services, systems and processes
- Provide advice and support to ensure branch projects are managed in accordance with the project plan and to the agreed timeframes and budgets. Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required
- A strong understanding of the machinery of government processes that underpin the operations of the public sector environment, accountability, and the performance, reporting and financial management regime
- Excellent political awareness and sensitivity to anticipate areas of potential risk and inform decision-making
- Strong reporting and data visualisation skills (Excel is a must, Power BI an advantage), including in analysing and interpreting data to ensure performance narratives give a clear and true view of performance
- Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work and come to an understanding of unfamiliar and complex issues
- Proven ability to think strategically, develop frameworks, manage organisation wide systems and processes and provide analytical support for the branch leadership team
- Demonstrated ability to identify ways of thinking about risks and issues and developing possible pathways forward
- Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Ētahi kōrero mō MBIE - About MBIE:
