YMCA Taranaki currently provides before and after school care services in New Plymouth, based at local primary schools and at YMCA Taranaki's venue. These services provide safe and enjoyable care for children before and after school.

We currently have two permanent part time positions for an Out of School Care Assistant - 13.75 hours per week and 20.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during term time and during holiday programmes.

1. Out of School Care Assistant 20.75 hours per week - 7.00 hours per week between 7.30 am to 9.00 am for before school care services + 13.75 hours per week between 2.45 pm to 5:30 pm for after school care services during term time. 20.75 hours per week between 7.30 am to 5.30 pm (school holidays) for holiday programme services.
2. Out of School Care Assistant 13.75 hours per week - between 2.45 pm to 5:30 pm for after school care services during term time and between 7.30 am to 5.30 pm (school holidays) for holiday programme services.

The successful applicants will have the following attributes:

- Experience working with children.
- Ability to actively engage children in activities and play.
- Has a genuine passion, commitment and energy for a child centered role.
- A current full driver’s license.
- Ability to work flexibly in accordance to the needs of the role.
- A commitment to the welfare of the child as a priority in the work and decision making.
- Caring and friendly, responsible and reliable.
- Strict adherence to health and safety standards and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Reliable transport.
- Current first aid certificate or the ability to obtain one.
