**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
We are seeking a Principal for our Development Planning team. Our Development Planning team provide and manage specialist technical transport advice into the review of development proposals that shape land use and growth in Auckland.
Key tasks will include:
- Ensuring large scale proposals support the safe and efficient transport of people, goods and delivery of transport services and to ensure that the form of and effects from development align with the function and priorities of the transport system and are aligned and optimised to strategic direction and policy.
- Developing practice guidance with a focus on the assessment of integrated transport and land use, as well as taking the lead on internal process improvements and workstreams.
- Mentoring, coaching and facilitating the development of junior team members and sharing your knowledge and expertise across a number of workstreams.
**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
Key skills and experience we are seeking include:
- Extensive experience in transport engineering, transport planning, land use planning and/ or, resource management planning, supported by a qualification in Transport Planning, Engineering, Planning or other related discipline.
- An understanding of Urban Street and Road Design and relevant guiding principles, codes and standards is desirable.
- An understanding and knowledge of the Resource Management Act, Auckland Unitary Plan, and local government legislation.
