**The Client**
Based in Tauranga the BOP, our client, a globally recognised, ambitious and a proud New Zealand business are focused on improving productivity for Agri-tech industries in NZ and across the globe.

**The role**
This role is based in Tauranga.

As a Software Engineer in the Computer Vision team, you will bring your 4-5 years in Software Engineering to the fore.

A true engineer, you have formaised software engineering skills and methods using memory efficient languages and can demonstrate highly effective / evolved / structured problem solving skills (from a Software Engineering perspective). You can code solutions that test your theories, you have the innate ability to over come the technical challenge getting Computer Vision based hardware and software to work as designed. Your pursuit to overcome machine challenges is second to none.

**Computer Vision experience (commercially) is essential Additionally, you must have Object Detection**
**experience**
**too**

The coding experience is ideally C/C++ however, any and all memory efficient languages can be considered (knowing that you would need to cross skill into C/C++). Showcase to us how you have learnt and developed outside of the core code to overcome challenges.

You have comfort developing and improving algorithms and hold neural learning as a key interest and or in your core experience.

We are seeking strengths in the test engineering realm too. You can demonstrate how you have created a test environment for your code base while still having consideration for change management for the whole code base and how changes effect related functionality / working requirements. You have the ability to see things at a holistic level, not solely within your remit.

The company has in excess of 100 employees, this role specifically works in a software engineering squad who focus on Object Detection. Your abilities in this area need to demonstrate how you get vehicles to behave blending the hardware and software operability requirements.

You are an experienced Agile Software Engineer.

Day to day, you will be responsible for;
- Contribute towards the development of software, machine vision, communication, and control for projects and products, including supporting the development of software algorithms for control, with a focus on robust and reliable real-world operation.
- Contribute to the design and implantation of testing procedures to maintain tight quality control of software.
- Actively participate in project activities and report and update the Product Managers / Project Leaders or Senior Engineer on the progress of project tasks, and any risks to these.
- Actively participate in code reviews with team members, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
- Providing software engineering and technical support to the business and to external stakeholders.
- Provide installation and service support for projects both domestically and internationally.
- Support more senior team members with the development of manuals, reports, or other documentation requirements.
- System and component design/engineering tasks, as parts of larger projects/products.
- Be involved in the development of service and operations manuals for developed systems.
Specialized skills or career specialization of Software Engineers can add key responsibilities into additional R&D activities.
- Where appropriate, develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, partners, contractors, suppliers, and internal company stakeholders as needed.

**Technical requirements**
- Software Engineering or Computer Science degree or similar qualification.
- 4+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer and commercial experience in Computer Vision and Object Detection specific experience ideally.
- Ideally, you have experience and knowledge in C/C++ (mandatory),
- Rust and Go are welcome additions.
- Scripting languages like Python, Bash or NodeJS would be highly advantageous
- Linux development and deployment environment experience
- Standard source control / version control tools (e.g. Git)
- Software testing practices (Unit, System and Integration testing)
- Automated machine configuration exp
