Infection Prevention Control Nurse Specialist Role(s)
Permanent up to a total of 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
These are important part-time positions to plan and facilitate the infection prevention control service coordination for the Health NZ Lakes across community and hospital settings of care. The total FTE involved with IPC Nursing within LDHB amounts to 1.8 FTE (including these roles located in Rotorua and in Taupo). Lakes has ICNet software for Infection Control surveillance and monitoring which was introduced in late November 2019 and has already demonstrated significant success through the COVID-19 Pandemic period. By doing much of the surveillance electronically us of this tool enables IPC nurses to focus more of their efforts on implementing best practice in terms of preventing, controlling and managing infections that impact on the outcomes of our patients, whanau and communities.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ).
- Current Annual Practising Certificate in the appropriate scope.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing and willingness to continue professional education.
- Nursing experience - at least 5 years postgraduate experience
- Ability and motivation to work independently.

Desirable
- Post Graduate Masters in Nursing or relevant area of practice.
- Post graduate certificate or higher in Infection Prevention and Control education
- Gold Hand Hygiene auditor / trainer
- Member of or affiliated with Infection Prevention and Nurses College (NZNO)
- Operational management and or leadership experience
