**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
This is a nine-month fixed term role that reports to the Manager, Science and Innovation in the Evidence and Insights Branch to cover a secondment. The Evidence and Insights branch develops the evidence base for policy and operational decision making in the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment. We provide trusted advice on the impact and effectiveness of government initiatives, and we provide the evidence-based insights that help decision-makers do their best work.
We’re looking for a Principal Analyst with a strong track record in relationship management, programme development and management, analysis, and insights production to join our Science and Innovation Evidence and Insights Team. You will have a commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and generating new ideas and ways of doing things. You will be an inspiring leader with experience coaching and mentoring others to achieve their potential. You will be a natural customer-centric relationship builder, with an ability to engage and support our internal and external stakeholders at a senior level to develop our RSI work programme. You will have ability to support data analysis and the translation of complex data into compelling narratives as well as engage and support stakeholders to help further strengthen understanding and awareness of the RSI sector across MBIE.
In this role you will primarily be responsible for leading and developing tangible data analysis work programmes, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, trusted insights. You will also make positive contributions to the team and branch culture.

**We are keen to hear from you if you have**:
- Proven experience developing, leading and managing large and complex work programmes Extensive and proven experience of the RSI domain and knowledge of its data systems.
- Established relationships in the research, science and innovation funding system
- Experience wrangling data, including undertaking analysis and presenting data to others
- The ability to translate ideas and feedback from stakeholders into defined pieces of work
- A customer-focused approach with the ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with senior managers, staff and key internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to foster an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, on-going learning and knowledge sharingProven experience guiding and mentoring other team members
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion
- Exceptional teamwork and collaborative abilities, and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others
- The ability to translate complex and technical information so it can be easily understood by non-technical staff
- Highly developed communication and writing skills
