Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty currently have a position available for a suitably qualified Specialist to join the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team based at Whakatāne Hospital. This is a permanent position (80 hours per fortnight) Open Term. Full-time or part-time available.

**He kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role**

You will become a member of a small team of five O & G specialists based in Whakatāne, with whom you will share the on call and elective workload. You should therefore be a good team player with a flexible work ethic. Knowledge of the New Zealand healthcare system will be an advantage.

We serve a large catchment area within the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Our clients are from a diverse background, with the majority being Māori. There is a lot of pathology, making this one of the few remaining places in New Zealand for someone who desires making a big, real, and positive impact in people's lives. Are you that person?

The Whakatāne Hospital maternity service is a Secondary level service with approximately 700 births a year. A Level 2 Special Care Baby Unit is located within the maternity facility. Patients requiring Tertiary care are referred to Waikato and/or Auckland Hospitals. Elective gynaecology services, including full Colposcopy services, are provided locally. We have well-resourced theatre facilities for acute and elective surgery, including minor and major open and mínimal access procedures.

Whakatāne is a beautiful New Zealand seaside town that provides a vibrant lifestyle. There is easy access to plenty outdoor pursuits to enjoy, including hiking, fishing, climbing, mountain biking, surfing, and golf. We are New Zealand's sunshine capital, and our local Ohōpe Beach is New Zealand's most loved beach.
