Our Auckland office is currently seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer that will provide specialist technical input that supplement project team competency and contribute to the growth of GHD’s presence and market share across their chosen field into market sectors of Water, Transport, Energy & Resources, Environment, and Property and Buildings within New Zealand Pacific (or further afield as opportunities dictate).

The Senior Civil Engineer - Asphalt Technology is tasked with effectively delivering work of a high technical standard in support of the broader project team and to the satisfaction of our clients.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Providing specialized technical support regarding binder rheology testing, binder rheological modelling and performance grade specification.
- Providing specialized technical support regarding conventional (Marshall) and volumetric asphalt mix design as well as asphalt performance testing.
- Providing specialized technical support regarding spray seal selection, design and construction.
- Keeping abreast of the latest developments and innovation regarding binders, spray seal and asphalt mix design including performance related testing.
- Providing specialized technical support related to asphalt and spray seals during forensic investigations.
- Providing specialized input in addressing Requests for Information (RFIs) and Non-Compliance Reports (NCRs) related to asphalt and spray seals.

Other responsibilities include:

- Conduct, oversee and arrange site investigations and construction on site
- Arrange and oversee laboratory testing for site investigations
- Develop pavement designs and detailed pavement modelling
- Provide inputs into pavement specifications
- Provide reports and manage the development of Design Drawings
- Support project managers and design managers on pavement related aspects of a project.
- Chair technical meetings and undertake design presentation at times
- Contribute to the overall functioning of the Business Group.

**What you will bring to the team**:

- BE (Civil) or other relevant tertiary education
- Minimum 15 years experience in the Asphalt technology and asphalt material design / testing industry, Airport Airside Infrastructure Engineering consultancy sector, with a proven record of leading provision of technical solutions on new and existing pavement asset projects.
- Formal qualifications in a relevant engineering or science discipline
- Focus on client service
- Able to work on several jobs at once and determine priorities
- Strong judgement and decisiveness; bias for action
- Understand and adhere to GHD’s values, Codes of Conduct, and Policies
- Proactive, analytical and problem solving skills
