Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role This new role will focus on supporting the Deputy Secretary to lead Te Hononga, the Māori Crown Partnerships business group. You are specifically accountable to ensure that Te Tiriti settlement commitments are well understood and met by the wider Ministry, to lead the development of any new Te Tiriti settlement agreements and support the Chief Advisor Matauranga Matariki to implement the Matariki programme.
Kōrero mōu | About you You have a proven track record in working successfully with iwi and Māori communities and experience in leading people within the public sector. Ideally you will experience in the management of Te Tiriti settlement commitments and the management of public funds and programmes. You are very comfortable to engage with iwi Māori in the medium of te reo Māori and are navigate the range of tikanga Māori practices across the motu. People describe you as agile in your approach to solving problems and delivering a work programme.
You are comfortable influencing people up, down and across the organisation; you are looking to the future and managing in the present; and you are working autonomously and within a broader leadership team. You understand the importance of humility and trust in establishing or maintaining professional relationships and are seen as a credible leader of kaupapa.
Given this is a leadership role, it is essential that you are committed to encouraging and supporting your peers to progress their own development of te reo and tikanga Māori as the Ministry works to build our cultural capability in te reo and tikanga Māori together.
