Department of Conservation Te Papa Atawhai (DOC) serves to protect and sustain nature across Aotearoa. We put nature and people at the heart of our mahi, guided by te reo Māori, te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Sitting within the Organisational Support Group, we have recently seen the establishment and centralisation of the Asset Management Unit which will form a ‘Centre of Excellence'. This team will deliver a more efficient and streamlined asset management service across the department.

He angitūtanga | About the role
The Asset Specialist - Planning will provide support to the Strategic Asset Manager and wider business in providing expertise guidance in the development, implementation and management of regional asset management plans.
We have multiple opportunities available, each position aligned to each of our DOC regions Nationally (Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Taupo, Wellington, Nelson, Hokitika, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill).

**The position will be focussed on**:

- Develop and implement regional asset management plans and programmes to meet required safety standards and Levels of Service
- Operationalise the national asset policies, strategies, and standards for use across DOC using asset management best practice
- Develop optimised asset maintenance programmes to deliver required Levels of Service
- Plan asset inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance in support of the operation of assets across the region
- Cross collaborate and provide specialist asset management advice to internal stakeholders to educate and support sound asset management practice
- Ensuring DOC operates as an honourable treaty partner

If you have some of the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:

- Specialist knowledge in asset management planning, developing and implementing processes and practices that include optimising the life cycle management of assets and compliance
- Previous experience in developing and implementing optimised asset maintenance programmes focused on optimising asset life cycle and compliance
- Tech savvy, you will ideally have had experience using a computerised management maintenance system in support of asset lifecycle management (SAP/EAM or similar)
- A strong collaborator, you're able to build trust and influence stakeholders, taking on others opinions whilst remaining on track
- An understanding of conservation and how it relates to asset management
- Current full drivers license
- Understands the impact DOC and the wider public sector/government has on the Māori-Crown relationship

The salary range for this position is $95,706 - $128,271 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
