Our client Alcom Communications are a well-established fixed and mobile radio communication company located in Rotorua, servicing businesses across the Central North Island. Due to company growth and technology advancements they need a highly skilled Communications Engineer/Technician to join their team. Reporting to the Directors, this is an exciting opportunity if you are looking for a new challenge and have proven skills which you would like to develop further.

**About the role**
Providing leadership in all technical areas, programme equipment, design, install and manage repeater/communication systems, project work, equipment assessment and repair; this role is busy and varied, with no two days the same.

The role would suit an IT or radio engineer with a good understanding of IP protocols, networks and DMR technology.

**Key Duties include**:

- Designing, building, and managing all types of repeater/critical communication systems
- Building and managing wireless microwave radio and fixed IP links
- Provide leadership on technical resourcing and knowledge as required to solve technical challenges, customer issues
- Communication high site work; including IP networking, RF and power supply design
- Cellular and DMR integration; including emerging technologies like PTT over cellular
- Hold Radio Communication/IT Qualifications
- Have a minimum 2 years' radio communications/IT experience
- Be a self-starter who can plan their own workload but also take direction
- Have excellent problem solving and project management skills
- Be able to prioritise and work under pressure
- Have a "can do" attitude and customer focussed approach
- Have proven leadership ability and ability to work within a team
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Have good physical fitness
- A Full driver licence
