We have an exciting opportunity to join our **Rotorua Team as an Electrical Technician or an Assistant Techincan.**

The role of **Electrical Technician** is to attend to the technical aspects of Unison's distribution, communication and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems equipment.
The end result is to efficiently maintain the designated Network equipment in a safe and reliable working condition.
**To be successful in this position you need**:
- At least 3 years experience in a related field
- EWRB registration, with a current Practicing Licence
- Experience supporting and managing a SCADA system
- Experience developing and maintaining Main Station/PC interfaces
- Protection relay testing & commissioning experience
- Cable Fault Location and Cable Testing experience

The **Technical Assistant** is responsible for:
- Undertake theory and practical training to achieve Level 5 Power Tech qualification.
**Practical training assisting Electrical Technicians in achieving the following;**
- Ensure effective operation of the Ripple system by:
- Programming, recalibration and operational investigation of Ripple Plants and receivers.
- Support operation of the SCADA system by:
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of Main Station/PC interfaces; and
- Diagnosing and repairing dataterm system faults.
- SEL relay testing and panel wiring by:
- Relay testing and commissioning in substations; and
- Building and wiring protection panels.
- Construct new Zone Substations by:
- Installation and commissioning of new 11kV and 33kV circuit breakers
- Installation and commissioning of SCADA systems and associated control and communications cabling
- Installation and commissioning of AC and DC cabling
- Maintain and repair Zone Substation equipment by:
- Fault investigations, adjustments to set point including Transformers, Circuit Breakers, Switchgear, Battery Chargers, Tap Changed and VT's and VR's and Protection Relays.
- Assist with Phase Rotation checks by:
- Using basic and radio-based phase rotation meters and equipment; and
- Undertaking phasing checks using various electronic instruments.
- Undertake High Voltage Phase testing by:
- Using High Voltage phasing sticks on indoor and outdoor switchgear;
- Checking and certifying Live Line testers and phasing testers.
- Undertake Cable Fault Location and Cable Testing by:
- Using various techniques and equipment; and
- Undertaking tests needed during joint processes to confirm repair process.
- Maintain Power System recording by:
- Undertaking all power system recordings for power quality investigation; and
- Managing the data records accordingly.
- Undertaking switching in Zone Substations and in the field to get to an advanced level.
- Assist Unison Contractors with technical advice and assistance as necessary.
- Provide input as appropriate to the design, planning and construction of allocated tasks.
- Complete documentation relevant to the performance of duties.
For the Assitant Technican role you will need the following,
- Electrical Qualification or Line Mechanic Level Four
- Registered Electrician with a current Practicing Licence.
- A minimum 3 years' experience as a qualified Electrician
