A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the Whau Local Board libraries as a Senior Libraries and Council Services Assistant, based at Avondale Library. The role will focus on the needs of our diverse Whau Local Board community, developing programmes and services enabling marginalised communities to thrive. Avondale’s diverse communities include migrants, ethnic groups, our rainbow community and those that are experiencing hardship.

This is a permanent 38-hour position and the current schedule is Sunday - Thursday. The role requires flexibility to work across the Whau Local Board.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate an ability to:

- Build and maintain relationships with local diverse communities to develop, deliver, and promote services to those groups in response to community needs.
- Identify service gaps or improvement opportunities and increase participation and use of library.
- Work collaboratively with teams in the Whau Local Board sharing skills, knowledge and expertise.
- Provide exceptional customer service, including supporting customers to use a wide range of library and non-library resources, navigating literacy and social vulnerability issues. Promote Council and community group opportunities and offerings.
- Keep up to date with current technology to support customers with access to resources in all formats
- Have well developed communication skills and self-awareness to enable their work across these communities.
