Fantastic opportunity to join this supportive team environment at our Blockhouse Bay Library
- Bring your passion for libraries and your local community to this exciting role
- Permanent, 38 hours a week opportunity, Tuesday - Saturday
**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
We currently have an opportunity for someone to join our team as a Senior Librarian in The Whau Local Board, based at Blockhouse Library.
You will be playing a key role in your local community library. Daily, you will be engaging with customers in the library, making it easy for them to access the various library resources that are available and ensuring that they have an unforgettable experience at the library.
This role is vital for connecting children, youth, families and whānau with services and programmes in the libraries. Based in the local community library, you will be supporting the leadership team in the day to day running of the library and provide opportunities to engage the community in the design of new service initiatives. A key aspect of this role is that you understand the importance of relationships within the community and be a role model and coach in providing great customer service to children, youth and the wider whānau.
It is essential that this role engages customers from these communities to increase participation and use of the library; you will also be expected to design and deliver innovative programmes and services.
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
As an experienced librarian with LIANZA professional registration or a tertiary qualification in a related discipline, you will bring with you a sound knowledge of library technologies and processes, enthusiasm, and an ability to collaborate in the development, implementation and delivery of services and programmes. As this is a role that involves working with children and youth, you will have the natural ability to relate well with people of all ages and backgrounds, excellent communication, and strong digital and readers advisory skills are essential.
**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**
Along with the benefits that come with being a part of Auckland's largest employer, you will also be part of Australasia's largest public libraries and can make an impact in one of New Zealand's fastest growing cities.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 38 hours rostered Tuesday to Saturday.
If you are enthusiastic about delivering children and youth library services, have a passion for literature and technology and can help others share your passion, we want to hear from you today
Come be part of an exciting team making a difference to the community in Auckland.
