Mary Potter Hospice is recruiting for an exciting new position, a Therapy Assistant and Day Unit Coordinator to join our dedicated and friendly multidisciplinary team. Day Unit is held onsite at Newtown once a week, and provides connection and safe space for patients to come together. The role is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the Day Unit programme. The other part of this role is to enhance and support our therapies staff, working closely with the community and Inpatient Unit multi-disciplinary teams, closely supported by our team of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistant. We can support you to develop palliative care skills so you can grow within our organisation.

Mary Potter Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for the people of the Wellington Region. We have an Inpatient Unit and a strong Community team and take a multi-disciplinary approach in order to provide holistic care for our patients and their families.

This fulfilling and important role provides skilled and compassionate supports in the community and IPU. Providing a Day Unit space and programme with the help of Volunteers, enhancing the allied health work ensuring our patients have the opportunity to engage with activities or occupations that are both essential and meaningful to them and, in doing so, fostering a sense of ability, dignity, and control.

You will need to:

- Have some experience of providing supports in the community, preferably within a healthcare environment
- Be required to undertake pre-employment health screening and complete a Ministry of Justice criminal records check
- Have NZ residency or a valid work visa.
