Taupo, New Zealand Waikato Regional Council Full time

**About us**:
We want more good people to come and do great things with us.

We love where we live. That’s why we work so hard to look after our region and the people who live and work in the Waikato region.

Customers sit at the heart of everything we do, and all staff have an important role to play in the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Our work is as diverse as the region we care for; from the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to the slopes of Ruapehu. We’ve got ambitious goals and there are some tricky issues, but that’s what makes it so interesting.

**Come work for us
We’re looking for an outgoing person who enjoys working with people, you’ll be:

- Implementing pest plant programmes under the Regional Pest Management Plan (RPMP) and the Biosecurity Strategy. This includes managing and undertaking direct control of RPMP pest plants as required i.e., small spraying or physical control works.
- Working with community groups, key stakeholders, and iwi to achieve our operational plan.
- Supporting the delivery of our wilding pine programme within the Taupō area.
- Carrying out site inspections to determine compliance requirements for the Taupō/Upper Waikato pest plant programme.

To be successful you’ll need to have experience successfully coordinating projects and be good at managing relationships. An understanding of pest plant management and experience with managing contracts is desirable but not necessary, we’ll have heaps of support available for you to learn this on the job.

This is a really varied role which needs someone who can leap in to action, has good written and verbal skills, the ability to manage multiple projects on the go, and work in a team of really cool people.

To be considered for this position you will have at least 5 years’ work experience. Above all you’ll need to care about the environment and have an impact.

We’d prefer this role to be based in Taupō. It’s an awesome location with nice scenery and great people.

**Waikato Regional Council offer our a range of staff benefits including flexible working options, an active rewards program, health & wellbeing benefits, and a great social club. We are committed to working more creatively to ‘get work done’ in a way that is of mutual benefit to you, the organisation, and our communities.
