Carpet Layer

**Work Location**: Auckland and Waikato Region
**Employment type**: Full time (minimum 30 hours/per week, Monday to Friday), Permanent role
**Our pay**: $29.66-$35.00 per hour depending on skills and experience.

We are a floor company based in Auckland and Waikato
We are now looking for 2 carpet layers to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right people and will allow access into a reputable and experienced company.

**Tasks you may carry out**:

- Measure rooms and draw up specifications and estimate quantities for carpet covering.
- Prepare carpet surfaces for coverings, removing and disposing of old carpet.
- Lay out samples for selection, roll out, measure, mark, and cut off excess carpet and frays
- Position the carpet, stretch it to fit, and cut off excess carpet and frays.
- Join carpet sections together for large rooms
- Glue or staple carpet to the carpet, finish edges with wall trimmer
- Utilize carpet-laying tools such as carpet shears, knee kickers, wall trimmers, loop pilecutters, heat irons, and power stretchers
- Correct imperfections in finished carpet.
- Rip of soiled sections of carpet and replace with new swatch.

**To be successful you will need to**:

- Have at least three years solid relevant experience, or
- Have a relevant NZ Level 4 qualification in Carpentry or equivalent qualifications/certificates
- Be a great team player, be able to follow instructions
- Be physically fit and willingness to work hard
- Good eye for details and an ability to solve problems practically and effectively
- have "can-do" attitude
