Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The opportunity
As a Senior Advisor within the Investment Planning and Support Team, you will contribute to one or more of the following work areas:
- Strategy and planning - lead the development of the investment strategy and co-ordinate regional investment plans and the Investment Directorate business plan
- Performance reporting - support the development of the regular performance reports and develop new innovative reports to showcase TPK's investment portfolio
- Operations support - support the delivery of the investment portfolio with a user-friendly operating investment system, processes and practices.
As a Senior Advisor you will be expected to mentor and support more junior staff within the Investment Directorate. You will also be expected to provide leadership within your specific work area and work collaboratively and flexibly across the Ministry.
As a Senior Advisor will lead and play a significant role in investment projects within the work programme. You will also need to work with staff across Ngā Puni involved in contracting, legal and research, monitoring and evaluation. There will be opportunity to work closely with regional staff ensuring unified service to the Minister and to Māori communities.
The appointment range for this role is $ 86,599 to $ $119,466 per annum.

**To be successful in this role you will**:
Māori Perspective
- Have some understanding Māori values and knowledge including its origins
- Have basic Te Reo Māori including some vocabulary and structure
- Have an understanding of tikanga and be confident in situations where tikanga is observed
- Be able to work alongside Māori groups and take the time to earn their respect
- Understand the basic principles of the Treaty of Waitangi from both a Māori and Crown perspectives
Relationship Management
- Understand principles of Māori interrelationships and acknowledge when dealing with people
- Actively participate and enjoy building the capability of the team
- Promote a friendly, cooperative climate in groups and teams
- Identify stakeholder needs and follow up to address them
- Build and maintain the formal and informal networks and relationships that are important to the achievement of work objectives
- Show an interest in people's issues and activities that go beyond the immediate work
- Engage others before making decisions
- Come face to face with conflict rather than trying to avoid it
Communicating Effectively
- Prepare and present clear and concise, written and verbal information to individuals or groups
- Set out arguments logically to persuade others

- Convey relevant information to interested parties
