The role is based in Taupō with a specific focus on the Southern Lakes area to enable better access for Whānau who live rural or remote. You will work alongside perinatal clinicians (nurse, social worker and psychiatrist) and the role is aimed at providing direct health care and support, in conjunction with other providers, to meet the needs of Māma and Pēpi (mother and her infant), with their family and whānau and or other natural supports. Services include support during pregnancy. The peer/support worker role will have clinical oversight, supervision and support.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
- Keen interest in supporting young Māma to bond with their pēpi (babies)
- A passion for growing strong, confident Whānau and families
- Previous experience in the health sector, specifically mental health preferable
- Knowledge of Te Ao Māori and ability to speak Te Reo Māori will be an advantage
