The Division of Health Sciences at the University of Otago is home to researchers working in a diverse range of areas, who rely on services provided through the Division to facilitate their work.

The Health Sciences Research team actively supports all staff within the Division with a goal to maintain the high calibre of research conducted at the university.

**_The role/Te mahi_**

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Research Fellow to provide academic support to the Associate Dean Research Health Sciences, the Research & Development Manager Health Sciences and the Health Sciences Research Committee for work related to biobanks and tissue collections.

Key tasks of the role include:

- Supporting and managing all aspects of planning and implementation of a new framework for tissue collection and biobanking activities within the Division.
- Information gathering and collation from across multiple departments and research groups.
- Initiating new data management processes.
- Curating a central repository of guidance information.

In this role you will need to:

- Work together with Māori staff aligned to the project on co-design of solutions related to tissue and data management.
- Act as key point of contact for staff engaging with the project.
- Provide support for new governance structures.
- Coordinate initiation of dedicated ITS and software services for tissue sample management.
- Establish new processes for gathering and collation of divisional-level data on collections.
- Design and establish central online repositories of information for access by staff.
- Work with communications staff to keep Divisional staff informed about the project.

- A Postgraduate degree in health or biological sciences.
- Experience with, or understanding of, research involving collection of human tissues.
- Experience in project management and administration.
- Experience with data management or database systems.
- An ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely to team members and researchers.
- Excellent writing and organisational skills.

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed term (1 year) position.

The salary range for an Assistant Research Fellow (non-medical and dental) is $54, 591 - $74, 781 per annum. Appointment will be made at an appropriate step in this range dependent on skills, qualifications, and experience.
