We are seeking an experienced scientist to provide technical support and training for the flow cytometer and cell sorting in the Flow Cytometry Unit (part of the Division of Health Sciences Research Infrastructure Centre).

**_ The role/Te mahi_**
- The objectives of this role are to:

- Provide technical support to researchers and students wishing to use flow cytometric analysis and cell sorting capabilities, including operating the instruments.
- Provide training to students and University staff in flow cytometry and cell sorting, including use of analysis software, and prepare appropriate training material.
- In consultation with users, provide advice on flow cytometry protocols, including fluorophore selection and appropriate controls.
- Carry out quality control and routine maintenance of flow cytometer and cell sorting equipment.
- Take responsibility for general laboratory management, maintaining stocks of flow cytometry consumables and reagents, and ensuring compliance with health and safety and other regulations.
- Take responsibility for obtaining quotes, parts and coordinating timely preventative maintenance and repairs with the instrument suppliers to maintain an effective flow cytometry service.
- Maintain accurate records of facility and equipment use for billing and planning purposes.
- Assist with the formulation and management of the annual budget for the facility.

- Post graduate science qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience in flow cytometry (including data analysis), panel design and cell sorting techniques.
- Experience in training others in the use of flow cytometry and cell sorting.
- Laboratory management experience.

This is a permanent, part-time (30 hours per week) position based in Dunedin.
