**The Role**:
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Senior Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in the technical oversight of subsystem and system issues within the complex space-based superconducting program.

As the key technical liaison with mission-involved customers and suppliers, this role will be responsible for facilitating communication and ensuring a smooth collaboration between all parties, providing critical technical oversight for the development of system architecture and design, as well as supporting various architecture roles and ensuring effective technical management.

Using your skills in systems engineering, you'll play a crucial role in turning the mission requirements into a strong plan. You'll be in charge of developing the overall concept, breaking down the requirements, analysing the system, making key decisions, and providing support during the design and development phase.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Act as the primary technical liaison with mission-involved customers and suppliers.
- Provide technical oversight for system architecture and design development, along with supporting architecture roles and in-depth technical management.
- Manage project scheduling and enforce task completion.
- Ensure integration of sub-systems into the overall system, defining clear interfaces.
- Lead non-conformance investigations and serve as the test leader for flight articles.
- Create and review system and component Qualification Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports.
- Lead program gates such as Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), etc.
- Set operational schedules and Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
- Define and review system requirements, product/sub-system specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).

**Additional responsibilities**:

- Oversee the roadmap and development of critical simulation and testing tools, software, ground support equipment, etc.
- Identify gaps between requirements, design, manufacturing, operations, and facility solutions.
- Mentor and guide engineering personnel to improve technical and project skills.
- Update company-wide guidelines, systems engineering, and quality processes, ensuring staff education.
- Participate in potential customer meetings to provide engineering and product insights.
- Undertake other tasks as required from time to time.

Whilst there is not an expectation for you be an absolute expert, you will thrive if you're the type that enjoys trying new things, failing fast, and asking questions. You will also recognise the value of having alternative skill sets and inquisitive brains around you.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field of studies.
- A minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in the aerospace or defence industry.
- Proven experience in project management, including requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation.
- Strong background in systems design, systems integration, and technical risk identification and management strategies.
- Familiarity with Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.
- Solid understanding of industry-standard system engineering design principles with proficiency in classical and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
- Potential experience or certification in INCOSE/ENZ standards.
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or Prince2 is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

**In return**:
You will be working for a company that LOVE what they do. You can anticipate being in a role you will love too As a start-up organisation you can expect to work with plenty of independence whilst collaborating with others as you become the expert in your space. You’ll have a large and rewarding part to play. As this is a hands-on role, it is based in their CBD headquarters with options for WFH being limited.

However you won't be expected to work typical "Start-Up" hours. This business works efficiently and avoids bureaucracy at all costs You'll be paid to market expectations, conditional on your level of experience.

If this sounds like you please
