That means if you want to do your thing at our Auckland hub (if you're nearby) or at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.**What you’d be doing in this role
- As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.- This role will be responsible for leading the engineers of a new brand experience team and ensuring that they are protecting the brand of our customers inside and outside of the editor.- You will get to work on projects that are key to Canva's strategic goals. There are many opportunities to bring new features from chaos to clarity, to take features from 1 to 100.- You'll owns the team's technical direction and be accountable for the team's technical strategy and roadmap.
- Helping the team achieve their goals, maintaining an environment where they can do their best work, and growing and developing a skilled engineering team.
- Accountable for eng delivery, ensuring the team delivers an impactful and reliable output.
- Lead the team to execute the strategy and sets clear goals and rally the team to support.
- Drive planning and refinement of seasonal goals, ensuring alignment between the company, group, and teams.
- Able to iterate on strategies and plans to respond optimally to external signals, changing priorities and business needs.
- Ensures an environment for collaboration; that the engineering culture within the team is open, pragmatic, and encouraging.

**You're probably a match if**:

- Previously built impactful and collaborative teams where everyone is able to share their best ideas and be their best selves.
- Previous experience as a Software Engineer - in tune with software engineering fundamentals and first values; comfortable contributing to design documents and performing thorough code reviews.
- Front End or Back End or Full Stack experience (Java on the BE or JavaScript, TypeScript, React on the FE).
- Measurement-oriented, and have an experimentation mentality.
- Proven experience navigating complex product experiences and translating them into a clear engineering roadmap.
- Practical communication skills with the ability to understand the needs of product team engineers when building offline features, and rallying the team to build tools that fit their needs.
- Excellent organisational skills, planning for engineering work while keeping partners involved and advised.
- Experience with large codebases and microservices.
- Keen to explore the analytics and language AI product spaces.
