**Who we are**

In 2020, an alliance was formed between Vector and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to co-develop a cloud native data platform: Diverge. This team has evolved to become Vector Technology Services (VTS); a subsidiary of Vector, New Zealand's largest distributor of electricity and gas.

Through our strategy of delivering commercially valuable cloud native platforms that solve real problems right now, while primed for rapid evolution in the future, we work to deliver on our vision of creating a new energy future with the following considerations:

The Diverge data platform:

- Is a customisable managed software-as-a-service platform; for energy data ingestion, processing**_, _**insights generation and data delivery.
- Is cloud native, composed entirely of AWS serverless services which bring cloud native scalability, reliability and resilience to this mission critical enterprise system.
- Is deployed and managed through infrastructure-as-code, automated software release and service orchestration.
- Performs streaming data processing in state, temporal sequence and data dependency aware pipelines.

**About the role**

The Engineering Manager ensures the software engineering team is capable and able to deliver on the vision and strategy for software development at VTS.

Oversee the development, testing, deployment and support of VTS software products, and work closely with team members from Product, Engineering, Delivery, Business Development and Customer Success to ensure that our product development aligns with market needs and business goals.

**Who are we looking for?**
- A genuine and skilled engineering professional with people first leadership experience
- You have strong people management and coaching skills. You know how to support and enable your team, and provide opportunities for growth
- Solid technical background (Java/.NET), with a good understanding of AWS serverless technologies, SaaS development in general, and cloud-native architectures
- You’ll have a sound understanding of the software development lifecycle and DevOps/agile software practices
- An open mind, and natural curiosity, with the ability to balance this with commercial outcomes
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
- You take a pragmatic and methodical approach when tackling challenges, and are adept at making critical decisions under pressure and coordinating with the appropriate stakeholders and teams to achieve the right outcomes
- Experience in implementing security best practices and implement/maintain the appropriate processes is advantageous.
